SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Stanford softball (3-1) split a pair of games on Saturday at the SDSU Season Kickoff.
Game One
Stanford dropped a 7-3 game to Boise State (4-0) to open Saturday's action.
The Broncos scored three runs in the fifth to jump ahead of their 4-3 lead, logging 12 hits on the day.
Emily Klingaman led the Cardinal with a home run – her first since Feb. 9, 2019, during her freshman season – and added a RBI groundout.
Game Two
In the second game of the day, the Cardinal dropped a four-spot in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-2 victory over UIC (0-4).
Kaitlyn Lim led off the inning with a solo shot to right center to start off the scoring. RBI groundouts from Emily Schultz and Caelan Koch brought Sydnee Huff and Emily Young across the plate, while Chloe Doyle single into left field for her first career hit – a RBI that scored Aly Kaneshiro.
Huff ended the game 2-for-4, while Schultz added a double. Stanford logged seven hits in the evening clash.
Regan Krause and Kylie Chung pitched effectively for Stanford in the win. Krause struck out six and carried a perfect game into the fourth inning. The sophomore allowed only two hits and one earned run in her 6.0 innings of work. Chung made her first appearance in the circle for Stanford, striking out two and retiring the side in her lone inning of relief.
