STANFORD, Calif. – In the Cardinal's second meet in three days, a career-best all-around performance from freshman Brenna Neault led Stanford to a second-place finish in its quad meet Monday in Maples Pavilion.
Stanford hosted Boise State, Sacramento State, and BYU Monday for a President's Day Quad Meet. The Broncos led the pack with a score of 197.000, followed by the Cardinal and the Cougars with scores of 196.575 apiece and the Hornets totaling a score of 193.325.
Two members of the Cardinal recorded event wins throughout the meet, as super senior Kyla Bryant brought home a part of the beam title with a score of 9.975 while Neault collected the all-around title with her collegiate-best performance of 39.525.
Stanford's efforts in the quad meet began on the vault where the Cardinal recorded its season-best team total on the event with a score of 49.200. Junior Jade Chrobok kicked off the rotation matching her career-best vault total of 9.75 while Neault secured her career-best score of 9.825 in the second spot. Freshman Anapaula Gutierrez followed with her collegiate-best effort of 9.90 and senior Madison Brunette totaled a career-best matching 9.825. Bryant rounded out the rotation with a 9.90, her second-best vault score of the season.
The Cardinal then hit the bars where Neault notched her second career-best performance of the night with a score of 9.925. Super senior Taylor Lawson marked a season-best matching 9.825 in the second spot while Brunette tallied the same score as the third routine of the rotation. Gutierrez scored a 9.800 in the anchor spot for a team total of 48.650.
After counting two falls on bars, Stanford rebounded on beam with its second-best team total of the year. The rotation was led by career-best performances from Neault and Bryant, earning scores of 9.90 and 9.975, respectively. Also finding success on beam was Lawson, who matched her season-best effort with a score of 9.80, and sophomore Sze En Tan, who earned her second-best performance of her career on the apparatus with the same score.
The Cardinal ended the day with its highest team total on any event throughout the day, totaling a 49.475 on floor. Neault started the rotation strong for Stanford, scoring a career-best 9.875, followed by a career-best matching 9.90 total from fellow freshman Gutierrez. Brunette matched her career-best with a 9.875 effort, while Lawson and Bryant both recorded 9.90+ scores to close out the day's performances.
Stanford continues the fast-paced second half of its 2022 season when it travels to Corvalis, Ore. to take on the Oregon State Beavers on Friday night. The meet is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
