STANFORD, Calif. - Spencer Jones scored 24 points, just one shy of his career high, but Stanford (13-8, 6-5 Pac-12) dropped a tight contest at home to Washington State on Thursday, 66-60.
Jones posted his third 20-point outing of the season, finishing with a career-high 10 made field goals and a 4-for-8 mark from 3-point range. With his four threes he moved into 13th place on Stanford's all-time list for made 3-pointers, passing Terry Taylor '89. Jaiden Delaire had eight points, while James Keefe had double-digit rebounds for the second-straight game, ending the night with six points and 10 boards, including seven on the offensive end.
Michael Flowers scored 22 points for Washington State, and his 3-pointer stretched the Cougars' lead to 63-55 with 4:11 remaining. Spencer Jones made a three and James Keefe added a dunk to pull Stanford to 63-60 with 1:18 left. Later, an Isa Silva 3-point attempt hit the back of the rim and Harrison Ingram missed a triple on the Cardinal's final possession. Efe Abogidi made three of four free throws to seal it for the Cougars.
Washington State (13-7, 6-3 Pac-12) avenged a 62-57 loss at home to Stanford on Jan. 13, their last defeat before starting their current win streak. The Cardinal utilized a season-best 23-0 run in the second half for that win.
Stanford continues its stretch of eight games in 17 days, hosting Washington on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. on Pac-12 Network.
