STANFORD, Calif. – Returning home to Taube Family Tennis Center, No. 12 Stanford rolled to a 4-1 victory over No. 8 USC on Saturday afternoon.
For the first time this season the Cardinal trailed after doubles, with USC grabbing wins on courts one and three, but Stanford rebounded with four wins in singles play to clinch the result.
Axel Geller scored his second win of the year over a ranked opponent, winning 6-4, 6-3 on court three, and the Cardinal took the lead, 2-1, after Aryan Chaudhary downed his own ranked opponent on court five, 6-3, 6-4. Max Basing put Stanford within a win of the team victory on court four, also by a 6-3, 6-4 margin.
Sangeet Sridhar netted the clinching point on court six, finishing off back-to-back 7-5 sets for the win.
Stanford returns to action Sunday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. against UCLA.
