STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford sophomore Haley Koo was named Women's Fencer of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation on Tuesday.
Koo went 23-5 in the foil at the NU Winter Duals at Northwestern over the weekend, including 13-5 against Stanford's six ranked opponents. On the final day of the two-day event, Koo went 13-0, with victories over three All-Americans -- Northwestern's Anna Biasco and Sarah Filby, by 5-2 and 5-3, respectively, and North Carolina's Sophia Mandour, 4-3.
Koo won two of her three bouts in each match against No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 4 Cornell, and No. 9 Temple on Saturday and improved to 38-10 this season. The Stanford women went 6-5 at Northwestern and are 13-7 overall.
Koo is the second Cardinal to earn Fencer of the Week in the first-year of MPSF fencing. Joy Yun, a sophomore in saber, earned the honor in November.
