SACRAMENTO, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford women's golf shattered multiple school records on Monday and leads the Gunrock Invitational by 17 strokes after 36 holes of play. Sophomore Rachel Heck is the individual leader at 13-under, with freshman Rose Zhang (10-under) close on her heels.
 
The Cardinal set the school record for 18 holes in the first round at 23-under, shattering the previous record by 10 strokes. They then followed that up with an 11-under 277, tied for the fifth-best round in program history. All told, Stanford's 34-under 542 set a new 36-hole school record by nine strokes, besting the previous record of 25-under set at the 2021 NCAA Regional played at Stanford Golf Course.
 
Heck's 13-under 131 also set a new school record for 36 holes by an individual, surpassing Rose Zhang's and Mariah Stackhouse's previous record of 12-under. Heck tallied 17 birdies and 16 pars on Monday, with just two bogeys and one double bogey.
 
Zhang also shined, tallying 10 birdies and 26 pars on the day to sit in second-place with 18 holes left to play.
 
Tuesday's final round will feature a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
 
Round One

  • Stanford shot a 23-under 265 as a team, shattering the 18-hole school record by 10 strokes. The previous school record was a 13-under 271, set last year in the second round of the NCAA Regional at Stanford Golf Course. The Cardinal's 23-under was the second-best round-to-par in NCAA women's golf history, behind Alabama's 25-under 263 in 2016.
  • Rachel Heck tallied 11 birdies en route to a 9-under 63, matching the best round of her career and setting a Del Paso Country Club course record. After opening with a birdie, double bogey and birdie to be even through three holes, Heck tallied nine birdies over the final 15 holes to match her best career round and tie for the second-best round in program history.
  • Caroline Sturdza and Rose Zhang each tallied identical 6-under 66s and were tied for second following the second round. Each golfers totaled six birdies and 12 pars to post clean scorecards.
  • Sadie Englemann and Aline Krauter were each tied for ninth after first round, 2-under 70s.
  • Playing as an individual, Angelina Ye was tied for 15th at 1-under, while Brooke Seay and Calista Reyes were each even-par, meaning all eight Stanford golfers finished the first round at even-par or better.

 
Round Two

  • The Cardinal fired an 11-under 277, tied for the fifth-best round in school history, to set a new, 36-hole school record at 34-under 542. The previous school record for 36 holes was 25-under, set last season at the 2021 NCAA Stanford Regional.
  • Rachel Heck set a new individual school record for 36 holes at 13-under 131. She made six birdies against two bogeys in the second round, finishing the day with 17 birdies, 16 pars, two bogeys and one double bogey. She leads teammate Rose Zhang by three shots.
  • Rose Zhang fired a 4-under 68 with four birdies and 14 pars. On the day she made 10 birdies and 26 pars, tallying a clean scorecard, and is currently second and three strokes back of Heck.
  • Individual Brooke Seay tallied a 5-under 67, Stanford's best score of the second round. Seay is tied for sixth.
  • Sadie Englemann fired a 3-under 69 and is tied for sixth at 5-under for the tournament.
  • Of Stanford's 16 total rounds on Monday, only two of them were above par.
