STANFORD, Calif. – Returning to Taube Family Tennis Center for its second conference outing of the season, No. 24 Stanford women's tennis rolled to a 6-1 victory over Colorado on Friday afternoon.
Stanford started the afternoon with a doubles sweep, as the pairs of Valencia Xu and Alexandrea Yepifanova and Ana Geller and Niluka Madurawe picked up dueling 6-0 victories.
The momentum carried into singles play, with the Cardinal going up a set on each of the six courts. Yepifanova pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 7-5, 6-0 win on court two, while classmate Connie Ma picked up a straight set win on court one, 6-1, 6-2. Angelica Blake provided the clinching point on court three, 6-4, 6-2.
Sara Choy and Valencia Xu pushed the advantage to 6-0 with wins on courts six and five, respectively, before Colorado got on the board with a win on court four.
The Cardinal returns to action on Sunday, March 20 against No. 32 Utah. The contest gets underway at noon.
