STANFORD, Calif. - Makenzie Fischer was named MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week for March 1 following a dominant performance at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational in which she became the school's all-time leading scorer.
It's the 10th career MPSF/KAP7 weekly honor for Fischer, who is a six-time Player of the Week recipient while also being named Newcomer of the Week four times in 2017.
Fischer reinforced her reputation as one of the country's best players last weekend, leading No. 4 Stanford to its first Barbara Kalbus Invitational title since 2018 and fifth overall. Fischer closed out tournament play with a combined 17 goals, seven assists, 24 points and 38 shots over four games.
In Stanford's 16-10 victory against USC on Feb. 26, Fischer became the program's all-time leading scorer when she delivered her 240th career goal with 42 seconds remaining before halftime to give the Cardinal a 7-4 lead.
Fischer, who has scored 40 goals this season, passed co-leaders Melissa Seidemann and Lauren Silver, who both finished their careers with 239.
Tacking on another four goals in a 12-9 win over UCLA on Feb. 27, Fischer enters the week with 245 career goals and ranks tied for 10th all-time in MPSF history.
Stanford next hosts Arizona State on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m.
