Goodwin Results Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford men's golf extended its lead at the 2022 Goodwin on Friday, carding an 8-under 272 en route to a seven-stroke lead over SMU. Sophomore Karl Vilips is tied for first at 9-under and in strong position to win his first collegiate tournament on Saturday.

Vilips carded a 4-under 66 on Friday, bested only by classmate Michael Thorbjornsen's 5-under 65. Both Thorbjornsen and Vilips tallied four birdies and an eagle during Friday's round. As a team, the Cardinal had five eagles during the second round.

Stanford will tee off No. 1 at 1:20 p.m. for Saturday's final round and is looking for its second tournament victory of the year. The Cardinal also won the Colonial Collegiate in the fall.
