Third Place At Goodwin

Goodwin Results Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 14 Stanford men's golf finished at 17-under and in third place at the 2022 Goodwin on Saturday at Stanford Golf Course. The Cardinal was 3-over for the day and overtaken for the team trophy by No. 9 Washington, who shot 10-under to win the title. On the individual side, Nevada's Peyton Callens sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th to break a tie and win individual medalist honors at 13-under.

The Cardinal began the day in the lead, but the Huskies charged hard and counted four scores at par or better. Sophomore Michael Thorbjornsen and senior Henry Shimp both shot even on Saturday to lead Stanford. Thorbjornsen finished tied for eighth at 7-under for the tournament, followed by Karl Vilips at 5-under.

Stanford will next take the course at Pasatiempo Golf Course on April 11-13 for the 75th Western Intercollegiate. The event will serve as Stanford's final regular season tournament before the postseason begins.
