2022 MPSF Championships Results Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford delivered one of its most dominant performances in recent memory, leading from start to finish on the way to securing its first MPSF title since 2011.

Stanford produced a 424.250 for its highest score in nearly five years, outlasting runner-up Oklahoma (417.300), California (392.400) and Air Force (388.050) to capture the MPSF Championship on Saturday evening in Burnham Pavilion.

Bidding to three-peat as NCAA champions in two weeks with the postseason underway, Stanford achieved its best score since April 8, 2017, when it totaled a 426.850 at the MPSF Championships. The Cardinal's highest score of the season prior to Saturday's meet was a 419.000, which it posted in a tri-meet victory over Air Force and California back on March 5.

The Cardinal showcased its superior depth by sweeping every event title, with Brody Malone owning the top mark on horizontal bar and the all-around. Malone's 15.150 on the horizontal bar represented the nation's top score this season and his 85.950 all-around score easily outdistanced the field.

Ian Gunther (still rings) and Colt Walker (parallel bars) were crowned MPSF champions in events where Stanford occupied the top three spots. Gunther's 14.700 was a personal-best mark while Walker reached 14.900 for the second straight meet.

Bryan Perla's 14.800 was the top mark on floor while Khoi Young's 14.600 was enough to win the pommel horse. Taylor Burkhart shined in his collegiate debut, leading the field with a 14.850 on vault.

Stanford returns to action April 15-16, competing at the NCAA Championships in Norman, Oklahoma.
