STANFORD, Calif. - No. 2 Stanford received goals from 12 different players, highlighting a 17-3 victory over Santa Clara on Wednesday evening at Avery Aquatic Center.

Madison Stamen and Sophia Sanders led the way with three goals apiece as Stanford (16-2, 2-1 MPSF) looked sharp despite playing its third game in five days.

The Cardinal scored 17 goals off 26 shots for a 65.4 percentage, converted 4-of-7 power play chances and buried all three of its penalty shot attempts.

Stanford built a commanding 11-0 halftime lead with Talie Wilmans rounding out the first-half scoring with 55 seconds remaining.

The Cardinal made it 13-0 at the 5:48 mark of the third period thanks to Celeste Wijnbelt, who scored her first career goal while also becoming the 21st player to find the cage this season.

Santa Clara (7-16, 2-4 GCC) broke through with back-to-back goals later in the period before Sanders scored her second goal.

Maya Avital covered the first two periods in goal, followed by Katie Lyons in the third and Christina Hicks in the fourth.

Stanford continues its busy stretch on Saturday, visiting San Jose State at 2 p.m.
