Stanford Garners Gymnast, Specialist of the Week

STANFORD, Calif. – After helping to guide Stanford to its first MPSF Championship since 2011, senior Brody Malone and sophomore Colt Walker have garnered CGA co-Gymnast and Specialist of the Week, respectively.

Malone, who shares the weekly honor with Michigan's Paul Juda, won a pair of MPSF individual titles after earning the honors on horizontal bar and in the all-around. Malone's 15.150 on the horizontal bar represented the nation's top score this season, and his 85.950 all-around score easily outdistanced the field.

Walker earned the MPSF crown on parallel bars after turning in a 14.900 for the second consecutive week.

The CGA Gymnast of the Week is the first for Malone this year, but the sixth in his illustrious career on The Farm. The national selection is the first of Walker's career.

Stanford produced a 424.250 for its highest score in nearly five years, outlasting runner-up Oklahoma (417.300), California (392.400) and Air Force (388.050) to capture the MPSF Championship on Saturday evening in Burnham Pavilion.

The Cardinal is the No. 1 seed headed into the NCAA Championships next week in Norman, Okla.
