SAN FRANCISCO – Stanford softball had four players earn five all-conference honors, the Pac-12 announced on Wednesday.
Alana Vawter led the way for the Cardinal by earning first team honors. Taylor Gindlesperger was named to the second team, Sydnee Huff to the third team, while Huff and Emily Young landed on the all-defensive team.
Stanford is 34-18 on the season heading into its final series of the season. It's 9-12 record in Pac-12 games is approaching the best conference season for the program in nearly a decade, while the Cardinal has won seven games against teams in the top 25.
Alana Vawter- Pitcher
First Team
- Leads the Pac-12 with 21 victories this season while posting a 1.63 ERA.
- First Stanford pitcher to have 20+ victories in consecutive seasons since Teagan Gerhart (2010-12).
- This is her second straight season earning first team all-conference honors.
- Her nine shutouts is tied for eighth on the single-season school record book and is seventh nationally.
- Her ERA is ranked 33rd in the country.
Taylor Gindlesperger- Outfielder
Second Team
- Leads Stanford with a .368 batting average this season, scoring 26 runs with 10 doubles, five triples and one home run.
- Has stolen 12 bases in 15 attempts.
- Is ranked in the top 15 in the Pac-12 in batting average, doubles, triples and stolen bases.
- Her 56 hits this season is tied for eighth in the Pac-12.
- This is her second consecutive season earning second team all-conference honors.
Sydnee Huff- Infielder
Third Team, Defensive Team
- This is the first all-conference honors of her career.
- Is batting a career-high .299 this season, scoring a team-high 30 runs with eight doubles, six triples and one home run.
- Her six triples is tied for third in single season history.
- Has 84 assists while starting 51 games at second base, posting a .982 fielding percentage. The next highest defender in the conference in fielding percentage has only 46 assists.
- Has turned six double plays this season.
Emily Young- Utility
Defensive Team
- This is the first time Young has landed on the all-defensive team after earning third-team honors as a freshman and junior.
- One of two players to have started all 52 games for the Cardinal this season, making all 52 starts at shortstop.
- Her 130 assists this season leads the Pac-12 and is approaching the school record for assists in a season.
- Has turned nine double plays this seasons – tied for fifth in the Pac-12.
- Is also batting .313 on the year with 11 doubles, three triples and two home runs with 35 RBI.
