STANFORD, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford women's golf clinched its 12th consecutive berth to the NCAA Championships with a tie for second at the Stanford Regional at Stanford Golf Course. The Cardinal advanced alongside USC, LSU and Purdue, who won a playoff over Northwestern. Stanford shot a 7-under 845 for the tournament to tie with LSU.

"We are really excited," Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker said. "I think it's a big deal to clinch a spot. We're really proud of the streak we have going; 12 straight years can't be understated, that's really hard to do. That's a huge deal for the program and these players."

Individually, Rose Zhang finished second at 8-under for the Regional. Zhang shot a 5-under 66 on Wednesday thanks to three birdies, an eagle and 14 pars. All three of her rounds were under par during the regional, as she fired 69-70-66 to close with her 8-under 205.

"Rose is incredible," Walker said. "She didn't have her A game this week, but there we was still scratching for the title at the end. To have so many people watching Rose and (Amari) Avery today, I think that was really special for everyone to get to watch the two of them. It was exciting and I'm sure the crowd had a great time."

Junior Brooke Seay finished tied for eighth with a 1-under 70 to finish the tournament 1-under. She shot 69-73-70 to crack the Top 10 at the regional.

"Rose and Brooke have been incredible and really steady," Walker said. "Brooke hasn't always been in the lineup due to a variety of factors, but every time she's been in, I think she's finished in the Top 10. She's been amazing."

Sadie Englemann was tied for 12th at 1-over and Aline Krauter finished tied for 16th at 3-over.

"I think before we head to Arizona we have quite a bit of work to do," Walker added. "There were some missed shots here or there. Some of that was playing at home and having a cushion, but we'll get to work and refocus. Hopefully we can get Rachel a little bit healthier and get her back in the lineup."

The NCAA Championships will be May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
