LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Alex Williams has been named one of 25 semifinalists for the 2022 College Baseball Hall of Fame National Pitcher of the Year Award, it was announced on Tuesday.
Williams is 7-1 with a Pac-12-best 1.75 ERA over 13 starts this season. The Cardinal ace has logged 77 1/3 innings, striking out 76 compared to 18 walks.
The native of Castro Valley, Calif. is 4-0 in Pac-12 play, sporting a 1.41 ERA over nine starts and 57 1/3 innings. Particularly impressive over his last seven turns, the right-hander is 5-0 with a 0.36 ERA (2 ER in 50 2/3 innings) over that string.
Williams, a two-time Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week selection, is one of two Pac-12 pitchers on the list, joining Oregon State's Cooper Hjerpe.
In addition to being included on the National Pitcher of the Year list, Williams is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
