STANFORD, Calif. - Brackets have been revealed for Stanford's three participants in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournaments, beginning on Monday, May 23 in Champaign, Ill.
Connie Ma opens play in singles against UCF's Marie Mattel, currently ranked 116th nationally, on Monday at 1 p.m. PST. Alexandra Yepifanova will face Petra Sedlackova from Alabama, currently ranked 68th nationally, on Monday at 2:30 p.m. PST. Ma and doubles partner Angelica Blake open their action on Tuesday against Allura Zamarripa and Peyton Stearns from Texas, the nation's 11th ranked duo.
This marks the first singles tournament featuring two freshmen from Stanford since 2014 (Taylor Davidson, Caroline Doyle, Carol Zhao).
Yepifanova is currently ranked 23rd nationally, owning an overall record of 33-7 in singles this season, including a 20-4 mark at the No. 2 spot. Ma is right behind at 26th nationally, with a 27-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark at No. 1. Blake and Ma are 19th nationally and have won 24 matches this season, with a 12-4 mark at the No. 1 spot.
Stanford boasts 14 NCAA singles championships in program history, won by nine different players, with eight NCAA doubles championships, won by eight different pairs. Stanford last won the singles championship in 2013 (Nicole Gibbs) and doubles in 2012 (Mallory Burdette/Nicole Gibbs).
