Went Out Fighting

GULF SHORES, Ala. – No. 8 Stanford beach volleyball ended its season Wednesday, falling 3-0 to No. 12 Florida Atlantic in a tightly contested opening-round dual match at the 2022 NCAA Beach Championship.

The Cardinal came back from three first-set defeats to give Stanford a chance to win the dual. While the final score looks like a clean sweep, the Cardinal did not lose a single set by more than eight points and four of the match's five courts were pushed to three sets.

Stanford ends its season with a 24-12 record, the most wins in a single season in program history and the fewest losses for the program since the 2017 campaign. The 2022 team smashed multiple program records, including the single-season individual wins record (by both sophomores Kate Reilly and Maya Harvey) and the pairs career win record (Reilly and sophomore Xolani Hodel).
