STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior Emily Young was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Young is now the only player in program history to become a multi-time Academic All-American after she was named to the third team as a junior.
A native of Mason, Ohio, Young carries a 3.88 GPA as she pursues her degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics. Young is a two-time All-Pac-12 third team honoree in her career, having been honored in 2019 and 2021. She was named to the conference's all-defensive team as a senior this year, and academically has been honored by the Pac-12 (2020-21) and the NFCA (2019, 2021).
As a senior this past season, Young finished second on the team with a .320 batting average and 39 RBI. Her 12 doubles led the squad as she added three triples and two home runs. She hit walk-off hits against Fresno State and No. 2 UCLA this season.
Young is a member of the exclusive list of Sarah Beeson (2002), Missy Penna (2009), Alissa Haber (2010), Kayla Bonstrom (2015) and Carolyn Lee (2019) as the only Academic All-Americans in program history. She was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team this season – joining Alana Vawter.
