STANFORD, Calif. – Super senior Christina Aragon heads a group of four Stanford athletes to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors for cross country/track and field.
Aragon earned first-team women's honors with Allie Jones selected to the second team. For the men, Charles Hicks and Keyshawn King earned third-team honors.
Aragon, a nine-time All-American and human biology major, capped her collegiate year by placing third in the 1,500 at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. In cross country, she was the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Jones, a two-time All-American and human biology major, won the Pac-12 title in the heptathlon, breaking the school record in the process. She finished fourth at the NCAA Championships and will represent the U.S. in the Thorpe Cup multi-events dual against Germany in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the end of July.
Hicks, a six-time All-American and cognitive science major, repeated as the Pac-12 champion in the 10,000 meters. After winning the Pac-12 cross country title, Hicks was third in the 3,000 at the NCAA Indoor Championships and sixth in the 10,000 outdoors.
King, a first-time All-American with a double major in psychology and sociology, shattered the Stanford absolute triple jump record. He placed fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to earn Stanford's highest placing in that event in 62 years. King was the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's track and field.
The honors give Stanford cross country and track and field 38 Academic All-America honors, earned by 33 individuals.
