Stanford Athletics announced two modifications to the lower level baseline seating at Maples Pavilion to improve the experience for students, fans, participating teams, and staff. These modifications will take effect beginning with the 2022 women's volleyball season.
The student section for women's volleyball and women's basketball, previously located in section Lower 14, will be expanded across the entire north baseline in the lower level (Lower 14-16) with the band remaining in its normal location at the bottom of section Lower 13. Increasing student attendance at athletic events is a priority for the Stanford Athletics Department. The role students play in creating a home court advantage for Stanford's teams and enhancing the gameday atmosphere for all attendees inside Maples Pavilion is critical. This update triples the number of lower level seats available to Stanford students at women's volleyball matches and women's basketball games. Admission to all Stanford athletic events is free for Stanford students.
Additionally, the existing first row of seating along both baselines will be removed. The baselines have become increasingly congested during basketball games, and this modification to the pullout bleachers will improve the spacing around the court for our programs, spirit groups, working staff, and courtside seat members. The rows will be re-labeled from AA to GG, previously AA-HH. The loge portion of the lower level will remain unchanged.
The Athletics Ticket Office staff has contacted all impacted women's volleyball Season Ticket Members (STMs) to select new seats for the 2022 season and will be contacting men's and women's basketball STMs in the coming weeks. All basketball STMs can reference the following information about the re-seating process to understand how these changes impact their seat locations.
Women's Basketball STMs:
If you have seats in Lower 15 and 16
A member of the Athletics Ticket Office will be calling you in the coming weeks to present new seating options. Please be on the lookout for a call from a (650) number and do your best to respond in a timely fashion if you miss the call.
If you have seats in rows AA-DD in Lower 6-8
Your seats will be moved one row back, maintaining the same number of rows between you and the court. For example, if you were seated in the first row (Row AA) you will stay in the first row of your section. If you were seated in the fourth row (Row DD), you will stay in the fourth row of your section.
If you have seats in rows EE-GG in Lower 6-8
Most STMs in rows EE-GG in Lower 6-8 will remain in their same location relative to the front row of their section, or will be placed in comparable seats within one row of their 2021-22 seat location. A member of the Athletics Ticket Office will be contacting you in the coming weeks to provide a personalized seating update.
If you have seats in rows HH-E in Lower 6-8
You will maintain your same seat location. STMs with seats in row HH will see their seat location described as row GG moving forward. Rest assured, they are the exact same seats.
Men's Basketball STMs:
General information:
Season Ticket Membership renewals will begin in mid-July. Every STM will have seats to renew during the renewal period. STMs who renew may submit a relocation request at the time of their renewal. Shortly after the conclusion of the renewal period, our staff will review relocation requests and prioritize those made by STMs impacted by the announced seating changes. All STMs who submit a relocation request will be contacted with an update during the weeks after the renewal deadline.
The lower baseline sections will be re-labeled from AA to GG and A to E (were AA-HH and A-E).
