Wright Earns IRCA First Team All-America Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – James Wright of the Stanford men's rowing team earned All-America recognition, as announced Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA). Wright garnered first-team honors this year after marking second-team distinction in 2021.

Wright's award is his third of the 2022 season. The senior was named to the All-Pac-12 team after the 2022 Pac-12 Championships and earned IRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors yesterday. The Philadelphia, Pa. native was also the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year in 2019.

Wright has rowed in both the five and stroke seats of the Cardinal's varsity eight boat this year. He helped Stanford earn two wins over Oregon State and a victory over Wisconsin at the Pac-12 Invite. Stanford's varsity eight boat earned a bronze-medal finish at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships.

The Cardinal's 2022 campaign included the continuation of a streak dating back to the 1984 season of the Stanford men's team finishing in the top-four of its conference while the program's top-20 finishes at the 2022 IRA Championships continued a 14-year streak of Stanford boats finishing in the top-20 boats at the annual championship regatta.
