Day One Complete

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – No. 11 Stanford finished its first day of competition at the 2022 IRA Championships Friday. The Cardinal advanced to the CD semifinals for both the Varsity Challenge Cup (Varsity Eight race) and the Kennedy Challenge Cup (Second Varsity Eight race). 

To advance to Saturday's AB semifinals, boats needed to finish as one of the top two boats in heats racing and the top boat in the afternoon's repechage competition. 

Stanford started the day with a third-place finish in heat two of the varsity eight preliminary races. In repechage racing, the Cardinal finished third to advance into the CD semifinals for tomorrow's racing.

The Cardinal then took on the Kennedy Challenge Cup heats, placing fourth in Heat 3. Stanford then moved into repechage 4, finishing third to move into tomorrow's CD semifinals.

Stanford's varsity eight will race tomorrow at 6:40 a.m. PT, followed by the Cardinal's second varsity eight at 7 or 7:10 a.m. PT.
