Keaty Named CRCA Lightweight Coach of the Year

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford lightweight head coach Madison Keaty has been named the College Rowing Coaches Association's lightweight rowing coach of the year, announced by the organization Thursday.

In her first year at the helm of the program, Keaty led the Cardinal to a tied-for-fourth-place finish at the 2022 IRA Championships. The Cardinal's efforts were led by a third-place finish for Stanford in the varsity 8+ and a fifth-place result for the Cardinal in the varsity 4+ race.

Under her leadership, Cardinal student-athletes also excelled off the water, earning a combined 23 academic honors from both the IRA and CRCA.

Alongside its podium effort at the IRA Championships, Stanford's 2022 season was highlighted by a first-place finish at The Knecht Cup, April 10, a fifth-place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic March 26-27, and intense racing in dual matchups at Redwood Shores with eventual 2022 IRA Champion and No. 1 Princeton as well as No. 6 Wisconsin April 16 and April 23.

Keaty is the fourth Cardinal lightweight rowing head coach to be honored as the nation's best, joining the ranks of Kate Bertko, Derek Brynes, and Al Acosta.
