Perfect Weekend

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 4 Stanford wrapped up a weekend sweep at home with another top-10 victory, taking down No. 8 UC Santa Barbara 12-7 on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinal improves to 6-0 on the year and is back in action next weekend at Whittier College.

It was a low-scoring affair to start, as neither team got on the board until Larsen Weigle dented the twine three minutes in. Walker Seymour added another on a power play before the Gauchos' first strike, making it 2-1 after the first period.

Facing its toughest competition yet, UCSB fought back, tying the game at 3-3 midway through the second period, but the Cardinal responded with three straight to end the half, featuring two scores from Jackson Painter and another from Soren Jensen.

The Gauchos inched within 6-5 early in the third, but Stanford kept its opponent at arms-length distance, capped by a last second score from Quinn Woodhead before heading into the fourth. It was smooth sailing from there, as Nolan Krutonog and the defense stiffened up and Ethan Parrish and Woodhead added more goals for the final score.
