JUNO BEACH, Fla. – No. 1 Stanford women's golf sits in second place at the 2022 Jackson T. Stephens Cup after 36 holes of play on Monday at Seminole Golf Club. The Cardinal is led by Sadie Englemann, who is tied for third at 4-under. All seven teams in the field are ranked in the Top 19 nationally, and No. 2 Wake Forest currently leads the event.
Three teams were left on the course when play was suspended due to darkness: Duke, South Carolina and USC. Those three teams will finish their second round and all seven teams will play their third rounds on Tuesday, with play scheduled to be televised on GOLF Channel from 1-4 p.m. PT. Following 54 holes, the top two teams will advance to Wednesday's championship match, while the next two teams will play in a consolation match.
Englemann's second-round, 4-under 68 matched her career best round, which she had previously shot two other times. After an even-par first round, Englemann tallied six birdies against two bogeys in the second round. She sits two strokes out of second and four strokes off the lead.
Both Rose Zhang and Megha Ganne fired 1-under on the day, with matching rounds of 70 and 73. For Zhang, her second round was just her fifth, out of 36 in her Cardinal career, where she has failed to shoot at least even par. By her standars, her second round was up and down, as she had an eagle, two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
Rachel Heck (71-73=144) and Brooke Seay (75-72=147) rounded out the Cardinal lineup on Monday.
