Stanford Downs Devils

TEMPE, Ariz. – Led by freshman Elia Rubin, No. 7 Stanford defeated Arizona State, 22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-16, Sunday, at Desert Financial Arena.

Stanford (12-4, 7-1 Pac-12) hit .239 as a team, while holding Arizona State (9-11, 3-5 Pac-12) to a .169 clip. The Cardinal matched its season-high with nine aces and collected 13.0 blocks and 62 digs.

Rubin paced the team with her third double-double of the season with 15 kills and 11 digs. The freshman also matched her career-high with four aces, including back-to-back to seal the second set.
 


With the win, Stanford remains in a tie for first place in the Pac-12 with USC. The Cardinal is now 10-1 on the road this season.
Setter Kami Miner also notched a double-double with 44 assists and 10 digs. The sophomore tallied three kills and three blocks. Junior libero Elena Oglivie racked up a season-high 22 digs.
 


Outside hitter Caitie Baird posted 13 kills, seven digs and matched her season-high with four blocks. Opposite Kendall Kipp chipped in with 11 kills, nine digs, five blocks and four aces.

Middle blocker McKenna Vicini hit .600 with six kills and match-high seven blocks, while Sami Francis had six kills and five blocks.


Stanford improves to 76-7 all-time versus Arizona State. The Sun Devils were led by outside hitter Iman Isanovic's 13 kills and eight digs. Roberta Rabelo added 12 kills on .345 hitting.

Stanford returns to The Farm next week to close out the first half of Pac-12 play. The Cardinal will host UCLA on Friday at 8 p.m. and USC on Sunday at 1 p.m.
