Another Top-10 Win

LONG BEACH, Calif. - No. 5 Stanford notched its 10th top-10 victory of the fall, beating No. 6 Long Beach State 13-8 on Friday night. The Cardinal improves to 20-2 with the win.

Stanford scored on its opening possession with a goal from Quinn Woodhead, as the two teams traded blows early in front of a packed crowd.

The 49ers took their only lead of the game at 2-1, followed by two straight from the Jackson Painter and Woodhead again. After the game was tied at 3-3, Painter scored another with over a minute left in the first period.

It was all Stanford in the second, as the Cardinal went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead into halftime, with four first-half goals from Painter, scoring from all areas of the pool. The run continued, pushing the lead to 9-3 with the Cardinal in firm control.

Nolan Krutonog finished with seven saves. Stanford has not lost a true road game all season and is back in action at No. 3 USC on Sunday.
