KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – No. 1 Stanford women's golf fired a 13-under 279 on Monday at Nanea Golf Club and sits in second following 18 holes of the Pac-12 Preview. The Cardinal trails Arizona State, who shot a 17-under 275 to lead the way. 

For the Cardinal, sophomore Rose Zhang fired a 6-under 67 to sit in a tie for third. She had six birdies and 12 pars on the day. Senior Brooke Seay shot a 4-under 69 with five birdies against just one bogey. 

Freshman Megha Ganne (2-under 71) had four birdies and junior Sadie Englemann (1-under 72) had six birdies. 

For Stanford, the 13-under round marked its best in school history on a course playing as a par 73. The previous best was an 11-under 281 at the 2015 Branch Law Invitational.

Stanford will play Tuesday's second round with Arizona State, Arizona and California. The 12-team field will have a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. PT/7:30 a.m. HT.
