Stanford Sweeps UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Led by Caitie Baird, No. 8 Stanford swept UCLA, 25-23, 25-23, 25-19, Saturday, at Pauley Pavilion.

Stanford won its 14th consecutive match, improving to 15-1 in the Pac-12 and 20-4 overall. The Cardinal has reached the 20-win plateau for the 40th time in program history.

Baird finishes with a team-best 14 kills on .316 hitting, five digs, two blocks and an ace. Middle blocker McKenna Vicini hit .583 with eight kills on 12 swings with just one error.
 


Stanford hit .277 as a team, while holding UCLA (14-11, 8-8 Pac-12) to a .178 clip. The Cardinal registered 47 kills, 43 digs and 6.5 blocks.

Opposite Kendall Kipp added 11 kills, two digs, a block and an ace. Outside hitter Elia Rubin totaled nine kills, 13 digs and a pair of blocks. The rookie also had an ace down the stretch to help seal the first-set win.
 


Setter Kami Miner dished out 33 assists and had eight digs, two kills and two blocks. Libero Elena Oglivie collected 13 digs and had six assists.
 


Middle blocker Annabelle Smith recorded a team-high four blocks and posted three kills and an assist. Defensive specialist Kelly Belardi tallied two digs and an assist.

UCLA was led by Anna Dodson's 14 kills and four blocks, while libero Mackenzie Cole had 13 digs to lead the Bruin defense.

Stanford returns to The Farm next week, playing host to Arizona State on Thursday and Arizona on Saturday.
