INDIANAPOLIS - Stanford learned its path to the College Cup on Monday morning, As the 2022 NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed during the NCAA Tournament's selection show. The Cardinal claimed a No. 5 national seed, guaranteeing the team a first round bye.
Stanford will host a second round match and will face off against the winner of North Carolina and High Point. The first round contest will take place on Thursday November 17 while the second round game will be on Sunday November 20 at 5 p.m.
Stanford returns to the NCAA tournament after missing out in 2021. This year marks Stanford's ninth tournament appearance in the last 10 seasons.
In The Knowles Family Director of Men's Soccer Jeremy Gunn's 11 seasons on The Farm, his teams have made the NCAA Tournament on nine occasions. This will be Stanford's 20th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
The Cardinal won its three national titles in three years, claiming the trophy in 2015, 2016, and 2017. The program has made seven College Cup appearances as well as five College Cup final showings.
Stanford is coming off a highly successful regular season campaign that saw the team finish second in the Pac-12 and hold a top-10 national ranking for 12 straight weeks. The Cardinal wrapped up the regular season against California on Saturday, defeating the bears 1-0 to finish 11-2-5 heading into the postseason.
