RENO, Nev. - Led by runner-up Charlie Darracott and third-place finisher Chayse LaJoie, Stanford finished sixth as a team at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday.
Darracott place second at 157 pounds with a 5-1 record, including a 5-1 decision over No. 17 Chase Saldate of Michigan State in the semifinals. Darracott is now 11-3 on the season.
A true freshman, LaJoie took third with a 5-1 record at 141 pounds. He reeled off four straight wins to advance to the semifinals, where he dropped a 7-2 decision to Jordan Hamdan of Michigan State. He then posted a 4-1 decision over Grand View's Shea Ruffridge in the third-place bout.
Also placing for the Cardinal was true freshman Jack Darrah, who went 5-1 at 184 pounds. Three of his five wins came by bonus points as he improved to 8-4 on the season.
Returning to the mat for the first time since Feb. 7, 2021, senior Luciano Arroyo was 5-1 at 141 pounds. Having wrestled the NCAA-max six matches in one day, he had to take no contest in the consolation bracket, preventing him from advancing to the fifth-place bout.
