Rally Cut Short in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. – Stanford men's basketball overcame a 13-point first half deficit, but was edged late by Arizona State, 68-64, in Pac-12 play on Sunday.

Spencer Jones led four Stanford players in double figures, finishing with 13 points and six rebounds, while Harrison Ingram and Michael Jones each pitched in 12 and Maxime Raynaud had 10. Ingram also had a team-leading five assists.

The Cardinal defense tallied 10 steals, including a career-high-tying three each for Michael Jones and Ingram, and blocked six shots, led by a career-best three from Max Murrell.

Stanford used a 13-2 run early in the second half and later a 10-2 spurt that gave the Cardinal their first lead since 2-0 when Michael Jones made two free throws to make it 51-50 with 5:12 to play. Arizona State took a steal the other way for a layup 49 seconds later to give Arizona State the lead for good and spark a decisive 13-4 run that made it 64-55 with a step-back 3 late in the shot clock with 50 seconds left.

The program breaks for finals over the next two weeks, next facing Green Bay on Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. on Pac-12 Network.
