End-of-Year Conference Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – The Pac-12 Conference announced the year-end beach volleyball awards on Tuesday afternoon, led by sophomore Xolani Hodel's second consecutive All-Pac-12 first-team selection. Senior Charlie Ekstrom, sophomore Kate Reilly, and junior Maddi Kriz each earned All-Pac-12 second-team nods and freshman Emma Morris was named to the All-Freshman team. The Cardinal's five postseason conference honorees tie for the most by the program in a single season, while the Cardinal's four 2022 All-Pac-12 team members are the most collected by the Stanford program.

Xolani Hodel • All-Pac-12 first team

Throughout 2022, Hodel recorded a 22-11 ledger, her second straight season recording 20-or-more individual wins. The sophomore is a 2022 AVCA second-team All-American honoree and  second-time all-Pac-12 first-team selection. She primarily teamed up with Kate Reilly in 2022, as the duo went 18-6 including a 14-6 record at the No. 1 spot. With their win over Grand Canyon on April 24, Hodel and Reilly became the Cardinal's winningest pair in program history with 30 wins.

Charlie Ekstrom • All-Pac-12 second team

Another member of the AVCA second-team All-America squad, Ekstrom earned second-team honors from the conference for the third consecutive completed season (also 2019). The Point Loma, San Diego native earned 23 individual wins in 2022. She played with Kriz for most of the season at the No. 2 spot, as the duo went 15-5, including wins over then-No.1 UCLA and then No. 11 Cal Poly. Ekstrom recently announced that she will stay on The Farm for a fifth-year season, a valuable asset coming back to the Cardinal for the 2023 season.

Kate Reilly • All-Pac-12 second team

The third Cardinal 2022 squad member to earn AVCA second-team All-America honors, Reilly recorded 24 individual wins, the most by a Cardinal team member in a single season. As a part of the program's winningest duo, Reilly and fellow Pac-12 honoree Hodel went 18-6 on the season including wins over then-No. 2 TCU and then-No.7 Grand Canyon.

Maddi Kriz • All-Pac-12 second team

Kriz, a first-time All-Pac-12 honoree, paired up with both Hodel and Ekstrom throughout the 2022 season to collect 22 individual wins. Kriz and Ekstrom were named an AVCA Top Flight Pair, recognizing duos who compete in at least 15 matches together at a specific flight and win at least 75% of their matches.

Emma Morris • All-Freshman Team

Morris had a stellar freshman season, recording 21 wins during the 2022 season. Morris spent time paired with fellow freshman Taylor Wilson, tallying 15 wins as a duo, and finished the season paired with senior Jordan McKinney at the No. 5 flight. Morris is one of just six Stanford freshmen to record 20-or-more wins in their freshman campaigns.
