All-Conference Cardinal

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Three Stanford men's golfers were named to the All-Pac-12 team on Wednesday, led by first teamer Michael Thorbjornsen. Barclay Brown and Karl Vilips were honored on the second team.
 
A sophomore from Wellesley, Mass., Thorbjornsen earns All-Pac-12 first team for the first time in his career after being named to the All-Pac-12 Newcomer Team as a freshman in 2021. He has posted a 70.58 scoring average in 31 rounds this season, with 22 of those rounds played at even par or better. Thorbjornsen has two runner up finishes and has posted five Top 10s and seven Top 20s on the season.
 
Brown, a junior from South Yorkshire, England, earns All-Pac-12 honors for the second straight season. He is coming off a runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championships last week. On the season he has averaged 71.68 over 25 rounds, with nine rounds at even-par or better. Brown has two Top-10 finishes this season, also posting a third-place finish at the Saint Mary's Invitational in the fall. He was named first team All-Pac-12 in 2021.
 
Vilips, a sophomore from Perth, Western Australia, joined Thorbjornsen on the All-Pac-12 Newcomer Team in 2021. On the season, Vilips has six Top-20 finishes in eight events with a scoring average of 71.48 over 25 rounds. Twelve of his 25 rounds at been at even-par or better and his best finishes of the season have been a tied for third at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate and a tie for fifth at the Saint Mary's Invitational.
 
Stanford, along with the rest of college golf, will learn its regional destination this afternoon (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. PT on GOLF Channel.
