STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Brock Jones was selected 65th overall by the Tampa Bay Rays in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft on Sunday.
Stanford has now had 11 players drafted in the first two rounds of an MLB Draft since 2011.

Jones was a 2022 second-team All-American according to D1Baseball and garnered third-team honors according to Baseball America and the ABCA. An ABCA Gold Glove winner this year, he was also a second-team All-American according to D1Baseball, Baseball America and Perfect Game in 2021.
The native of Fresno, Calif. batted .308 with 139 runs scored, 28 doubles, six triples and 40 home runs while starting all 137 games for the Cardinal in his first three seasons. Jones drove in 123 runs and walked 110 times to finish with a .439 on-base percentage. On the basepaths, he swiped 33 bases in 45 attempts.
A 2022 All-Pac-12 first team honoree, Jones led Stanford in runs scored (78), triples (5) and on-base percentage (.451) while ranking second in home runs (21) and first in slugging (.664) this season. The left-handed hitting centerfielder batted .324 and drew 55 walks while reaching in all but two games this year and collecting 23 multi-hit contests. Jones, who stole 16 bases in 21 attempts, hit .350 with 42 runs scored, seven doubles, three triples, 13 homers and 30 RBIs in Pac-12 play and finished the season having hit safely in eight straight contests. His 21 homers this year ranked eighth in Stanford history while the 78 runs scored were fifth.
As a sophomore in 2021, Jones hit .311 with 18 home runs to rank first in the Pac-12 while compiling a team-high 62 RBIs, 56 runs scored and a .453 on-base percentage. Jones amassed 32 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles and a triple, while compiling a .646 slugging percentage to rank third in the Pac-12. Showing patience at the plate, he walked a team-best 49 times to rank third in the Pac-12 and 11th nationally.
The 2022 MLB Draft continues Monday with rounds 3-10. The first selection on day two is set to be made by the Baltimore Orioles at 11 a.m. PT.
