Card Stings Georgia Tech

STANFORD, Calif. – Opening the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a dramatic victory, No. 18 Stanford men's tennis rallied for a 4-3 win over Georgia Tech on Sunday night.

The match was delayed twice due to rain in the area, with the Cardinal clinching the match nearly five hours after the doubles portion began. Despite a win from Nishesh Basavareddy and Neel Rajesh in doubles, Georgia Tech took an early 1-0 lead.

The Georgia Tech lead grew to 2-0 after a win on court four, but triumphs from Aryan Chaudhary and Arthur Fery leveled the match at 2-2. Max Basing again drew Stanford level, 3-3, with a straight-set win on court two, while Rajesh outlasted his opponent on court six, clinching the win for the Cardinal.

Stanford advances to play Texas A&M in the regional final of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, with the Aggies besting No. 20 Pepperdine on Sunday, 4-2. The action begins at 1 p.m. or after the conclusion of the Pepperdine-Georgia Tech matchup.
