STANFORD, Calif. – No. 18 Stanford men's tennis held strong on its home court, beating Texas A&M, 4-1, on Monday afternoon. The Cardinal advances to the ITA Indoor National Championship with the result, which will be held Feb. 17-20 in Chicago.
Stanford rallied from behind to win, as Texas A&M secured the doubles point. The Cardinal did get one win towards the opening tally, as Nishesh Basavareddy and Neel Rajesh won 6-3 on court three.
Four Cardinal players notched straight-set wins to send the Cardinal through to the national site. Filip Kolasinski was first to finish with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court six, while Max Basing was close behind on court two, 7-5, 6-3. Samir Banerjee extended the advantage to 3-1 with a win in the third position, 6-4, 7-5.
Aryan Chaudhary won his first set in tiebreak fashion and won two breaks to win 6-2 in the second to win.
Stanford travels to Orlando this weekend, Feb. 4-5, to face No. 16 Florida and No. 15 Georgia at the USTA National Campus.
