Sun Devils Rally Past Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men's basketball dropped a home game for the first time in the last five contests at Maples Pavilion, with Arizona State topping the Cardinal on Thursday, 69-65.

Senior Spencer Jones led the offensive effort with 17 points, including a 5-for-7 mark from 3-point range. He now sits just three triples away from tying for second on Stanford's all-time list for made threes. Brandon Angel contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Harrison Ingram had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Maxime Raynaud was in double figures on the glass, finishing with 10 rebounds.

The Cardinal led for nearly 34 minutes, and by as many as 13 in the second half. The teams were level at the half, 33-33, with Brandon Angel scoring 10 of his 13 in the opening frame. Angel hit two early threes to jump start the Cardinal, and he scored at the buzzer as the half closed to send teams to the locker rooms all tied up.

Ingram scored seven points early in the second half to lead a Cardinal run, while Jones scored 12 straight points for the Cardinal over a stretch of six and a half minutes. Stanford held a four-point lead late, but a pair of contested 3-pointers went down for Arizona to take the lead and the win over the final minutes.

Stanford sees a quick turnaround to a Saturday showdown with No. 4/4 Arizona at Maples Pavilion. The action tips at 5 p.m. on ESPN2.
