Card Falls to Top-Ranked Hawai’i

STANFORD, Calif. – Facing No. 1 Hawai'i for the second consecutive night, No. 8 Stanford fell 25-27, 19-25, 19-25, in front of a capacity crowd in Burnham Pavilion.

The Cardinal (7-4) hit .258 as a team and registered more kills (41) and digs (29) than the Rainbow Warriors (9-0). Hawaii, which has won 18 straight matches dating back to last season, recorded a .333 attack percentage and racked up 12.5 blocks and six aces.

Outside hitter Will Rottman led Stanford with 13 kills on .320 hitting, six digs, an ace and a block. Opposite Theo Snoey added eight kills and a team-high nine digs.
 


Setter Nathan Lietzke racked up 34 assists and had three kills on .500 hitting, three digs and two blocks. Libero Justin Lui finished with seven digs and two assists.
 


Middle blocker Ethan Hill tallied five kills on .308 hitting and an ace, while middle blocker Nathaniel Gates had three kills and a team-best four blocks.

Outside hitter Kevin Lamp chipped in with four kills, three digs and solo block on the first point of the match. He was replaced late in the second set by freshman Alex Rottman, who notched five kills and a solo block.
 


Hawaii was led by opposite Dimitrios Mouchlias who had a match-high 17 kills on .517 hitting, three digs and four blocks. Middle blocker Cole Hogland added a match-best six blocks, three kills and an ace.

Stanford remains on The Farm next week, playing host to No. 6 Pepperdine on Friday and Saturday to open MPSF play.
