SEATTLE - Playing its third top-10 opponent in three days, No. 6 Stanford got the win it was looking for, ending ITA Indoor Nationals with a 4-2 victory over No. 9 Vanderbilt on Sunday.
The Cardinal got off on the right foot, winning the doubles point behind a dominating 6-1 win from Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina on court win and the clincher on court three, a 6-3 win from Sara Choy and Connie Ma.
Stanford won four first sets in singles, and went back and forth with the Commodores on the overall match scoreboard, with Ma cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court two, followed by Stanford losses on courts four and five. Blake took down No. 85 Holly Staff on court three, before Choy clinched the win on court six, finishing just seconds ahead of Alexandra Yepifanova, who was also eyeing a victory on court one.
