STANFORD, Calif. - No. 12 Stanford continued its dominant play at home with a 7-0 sweep of Saint Mary's Saturday afternoon, improving to 5-2 on the year.
The Cardinal made quick work of the doubles point, with 6-1 wins on the first two courts and a 6-2 victory on court three.
Stanford won five of the six first sets in singles, the only loss coming from Alexandra Yepifanova. The dominoes began to fall quickly from there, in straight sets for many while Yepifanova hit the comeback trail.
No. 56 Alexis Blokhina finished first, a 6-4, 6-1 winner on court three, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 win for No. 3 Connie Ma on court two and the clincher from Sara Choy on court five, 6-2, 6-2. No. 88 Valencia Xu won on court four, freshman Emma Sun picked up her first dual match win on court six, and No. 41 Yepifanova completed the comeback, winning a 6-2 second set and 10-7 in the super tiebreak. The win over Saint Mary's is the 10th in the last 10 seasons for Stanford.
