LOS ANGELES – Led by opposite Theo Snoey's 17 kills, No. 9 Stanford defeated No. 13 USC, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20, Friday, at the Galen Center.
The Cardinal (9-5, 2-1 MPSF) hit .320 as a team and picked up its first victory in the Galen Center since 2016. USC (6-7, 0-3 MPSF) posted a .273 attack percentage and racked up 41 digs.
Snoey's 17 kills came on .294 hitting, while the freshman also had seven digs, two blocks and two aces. Middle blocker Ethan Hill hit a blistering .643 with nine kills on 14 errorless swings.
The Cardinal never trailed in the three sets it won, finishing with a sideout rate of 71 percent for the match.

Outside hitter Will Rottman returned to the lineup after missing the previous two matches. The senior tallied 11 kills, a team-high eight digs, an ace and a solo block.
Setter Nathan Lietzke dished out 43 assists to go with five digs, two kills and a block. Libero Justin Lui collected seven digs, including five in the first set.

Outside hitter Kevin Lamp finished with 13 kills on a .346 attack percentage, four digs, two aces and two blocks. Middle blocker Nathaniel Gates chipped in with four kills on .300 hitting, three blocks and an ace that seemingly dropped late, touching the end line.

USC was led by opposite Simon Gallas, who hit .471 with a match-high 21 kills to go with six digs, two blocks and a pair of aces. Freshman outside hitter Dillon Klein added 13 kills, eight digs and an ace for the Trojans.
Stanford and USC meet again on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
