STANFORD, Calif. – Taking the court for the first time since the ITA Indoor National Championships, No. 21 Stanford men's tennis earned a quick 4-0 sweep over visiting San Francisco on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinal remains perfect at home this season with a 6-0 mark, while the team improves to 8-4 overall.
The Cardinal played an expeditious doubles point, winning in the top two positions with 12 of a combined 13 games. Nishesh Basavareddy and Arthur Fery raced to a 6-0 win in the top position, while Samir Banerjee and Filip Kolasinski picked up a 6-1 win on court two.
Stanford continued the momentum into singles play, where all six players won their opening sets. Neel Rajesh and Isaac Gorelik finished wins on courts five and six within seconds of one another, extending the lead to 3-0. Samir Banerjee provided the clinching point on court three, 6-4, 6-2.
Stanford takes its final break from dual action at the Pacific Coast Doubles from March 3-5 before returning to Taube Family Tennis Center to host No. 2 Texas on March 9.
