STANFORD, Calif. — Head coach Andrew Fuller has announced Stanford beach volleyball's 2023 schedule. For the second consecutive season, the Cardinal will host the Pac-12 North Tournament at the Beach Volleyball Stadium, and for the first time since 2018, will kickoff postseason action by hosting the 2023 Pac-12 Championships.
Stanford opens its season at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic, hosted by the University of Hawai'i at Queen's Beach in Waikiki, Hawaii. The Cardinal will meet conference foe UCLA, local opponent Saint Mary's (California), host Hawai'i, and first-time opponent Stephen F. Austin in the three-day season-opening tournament.
"We are excited to have an incredibly robust and well-balanced schedule," noted Fuller. "We have scheduled fierce in and out-of-conference competition throughout the season. I am excited to open our slate in Hawaii, which has become a yearly tradition, and make visits to some of the best beach volleyball venues in the nation during the 2023 campaign."
The Cardinal then kicks off its home scheduling, hosting Saint Mary's and Portland for mid-week matchups at the Beach Volleyball Stadium March 1. Three days later, Stanford heads to Los Angeles for the Pac-12 South Tournament, meeting Pac-12 opponents Washington, USC, Arizona State, and Utah March 4-5 with two matches televised by the Pac-12 Networks.
Stanford returns to Los Angeles for the Battle of LA tournament March 11-12, taking on Loyola Marymount, Florida Atlantic, USC and Cal Poly on the campuses of LMU and USC. The Cardinal finishes its winter quarter action March 18, heading north to Berkeley for a meeting with the Golden Bears.
After completing final exams, the Cardinal welcomes San Jose State and San Francisco to The Farm for Monday afternoon matchups March 27. Stanford then hits the road to train on the beaches of Los Angeles for the remainder of spring break, concluding with four matchups with Long Beach State (2), Florida International, and Vanguard March 30-31.
Stanford then returns home to campus for its next six matchups, hosting Tulane and Saint Mary's on April 5 before welcoming its Pac-12 foes to The Farm for the Pac-12 North Invitational April 7-8. Three of the Cardinal's matchups throughout the weekend will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks.
Following a trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to take on the Battle of the Bayou hosted by LSU, the Cardinal returns to The Farm to host its final tune-up of the regular season. Stanford will compete in four matches scheduled for April 21-22, taking on Saint Mary's, California, Grand Canyon University, and Santa Clara.
The Cardinal's postseason begins at home on The Farm April 26-28 as the team hosts the 2023 Pac-12 Championship.
After the program's second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships last season, the program will look return to Gulf Shores, Ala. for the 2023 NCAA Championships. The national championship tournament features the nation's top 16 teams in a newly-designed single-elimination tournament.
