ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 16 Stanford closed the Pac-12/SEC Showdown with a win, defeating No. 15 Florida on Sunday afternoon, 4-1.
The Gators took the doubles point despite a 6-3 win on court one from Nishesh Basavareddy and Arthur Fery.
The momentum shifted during singles play, with all six Stanford players leading for the duration of their matches. Fery was first in the books with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court one, while Max Basing was close behind in straight sets on court two. Samir Banerjee extended the Cardinal advantage to 3-1 with his own win on court three, 6-3, 6-4.
Basavareddy provided the clincher on court four, picking up his 10th ranked win of the season, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
The Cardinal returns home to Taube Family Tennis Center to face Sacramento State on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.
