STANFORD, Calif. -- Pitchers Alana Vawter and NiJaree Canady had standout performances for No. 14 Stanford, each shutting out Miami (OH) in Sunday's doubleheader.
Vawter (8-1) went the distance for Stanford (18-2), giving up four hits, walking none and striking out seven. Canady (7-0) followed in game two for Stanford (19-2), giving up two hits, walking none and striking out 10. All five games the Cardinal threw this week were shutouts for five in a row and 12 overall.
Senior Emily Young led the way offensively for the Cardinal in the first game, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a walk and three RBI. Senior Taylor Gindlesperger compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Freshman River Mahler also contributed, going 2-for-4 for Stanford with an RBI.
At the plate in game two, the Cardinal was paced by sophomore Allie Clements, who hit a walk-off home run to end the game in the fifth. Freshman Emily Jones compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Freshman River Mahler also contributed for Stanford, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinal took the lead for good in the first, with Gindlesperger scoring the lone run of the inning for Stanford and get them on the board.
The Cardinal then tacked on two runs in the second off the bats of Young and Aly Kaneshiro. In the third, Stanford pushed four runners across to increase the lead to 7-0. RBIs from Emily Jones, Young and Gindlesperger in the fourth put the Cardinal at 10-0 for the run-rule win in the fifth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinal took the lead for good in the second, when junior Ellee Eck came across to score the lone run of the inning for Stanford and get them on the board.
The Cardinal then added runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fifth when they scored three times. Those three runs came off a three-run homer off the bat of Clements for the first walk-off home run of the season.
