LAS VEGAS - Stanford men's basketball fell in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals to No. 8/9 Arizona in a high-scoring affair at T-Mobile Arena, 95-84, on Thursday night.
Spencer Jones led the way with 22 points while Brandon Angel dropped in 19 with a team-leading seven rebounds. Michael Jones and Harrison Ingram joined the pair in double figures with 13 and 12, respectively, while Spencer Jones, Michael Jones and Angel each made a trio of 3-pointers.
Stanford connected on 14 of 29 from 3-point range and assisted on 19 of 28 field goals. The game included 11 lead changes and five ties.
A game of runs, Stanford led early 8-2 before a Wildcat run leveled the score. Stanford battled back from an Arizona run to regain the lead with 6:15 to go in the first, 32-31, on a Michael Jones jumper, while Jones scored again at the buzzer to keep the Cardinal within four at the half.
The back-and-forth action continued in the second frame, with Stanford taking the lead four minutes into the period, 57-56, on a Michael O'Connell three. The Cardinal kept fighting back after short Arizona bursts, but ultimately ran out of time in the period.
Stanford split the season series with Arizona, previously winning at Maples Pavilion in February.
