LOS ANGELES - No. 18 Stanford completed a weekend sweep in Los Angeles, defeating No. 30 UCLA on Sunday, 5-2.
The Cardinal had to recover from losing the doubles point, despite a 6-3 win on court one for Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina over the nation's No. 6 ranked duo.
For the second day in a row, Sara Choy displayed a clinical effort on court six, racing to a 6-3, 6-0 win - Stanford's first point of the afternoon. The Cardinal took its first lead after a 6-2, 6-4 win from No. 33 Alexandra Yepifanova on court three, and inched closer to victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win from Valencia Xu on court five.
The Cardinal's clinching point came from the freshman and No. 84-ranked Blokhina, who closed out a 6-4, 7-6(4) match on court four. No. 12 Connie Ma stormed back on court two, defeating No. 78 Kimmi Hance 1-6, 6-2, 6-0, while Blake was narrowly edged on the top court in a top-30 matchup.
