Six Straight Shutouts

WICHITA, Kan. --Senior Alana Vawter was dealing on Thursday, hurling the sixth straight shutout for the No. 12 Stanford Cardinal over the No. 23 Wichita State Shockers 11-0.

Vawter (9-1) went the distance for Stanford (20-2) in its 18th straight win, walking none, striking out seven and giving up eight hits

Offensively, the Cardinal were led by senior Taylor Gindlesperger, who went 4-for-5 on the day with two doubles and two RBI. Junior Aly Kaneshiro compiled a standout effort as well, notching her fourth home run of the season. Senior Emily Young also chipped in for Stanford, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Stanford's offense clicked in the first and put up six runs, starting off with an RBI double from Caelan Koch. The next two runs were walked across, followed by a two-run single from Young. Gindlesperger's second hit of the inning brought in one more run to bring the score to 6-0.

The Cardinal walked another run in during the third. In the seventh, Gindlesperger knocked an RBI double down left center, and Kaneshiro went yard to left field to add two more runs.
